Compressed Time

compressed time This series was created following the video Dancing in the Dark, out of a desire to fix and preserve the various images generated by the movement of the gaze images that, for me, held a captivating and independent beauty of their own.

In each work, all the movements of the gaze converge into a single visual entity. Each piece is in fact the outcome of looking, a record of the gaze’s wandering across a surface a gaze upon a black void, an abandoned wall, and so forth. Through this process, new forms are born: abstract entities, byproducts of human vision translated into visual information.

The gaze is no longer only a sensory faculty but becomes a tool of drawing, a poetic mechanism that generates new life creatures originating from a single act of looking, compressed, fractured, and transformed into image.
