Gaze Creature

manipulated digital photograph of a 3D-printed object, 90 × 60 cm, 2026.

What is seen and cannot be forgotten becomes imprinted as an inner substance, a residue that does not disappear.

Gaze Creature presents a top view photograph of a three dimensional object created through the translation of a personal eye tracking sample into volume using AI and 3D printing.
The work explores vision as a mutable physical material, vision transformed into matter and frozen physical presence, a gaze that has hardened into a scab. What is seen and cannot be forgotten becomes imprinted as an inner substance, a residue that does not disappear.

The photograph documents the object suspended underwater, anchored by weights at the center of an aquarium, as a new visual creature existing in the depths. Similar to fish living in the deep sea, its source of light is the gaze itself, like an eye receiving light against a computerized white background. The creature appears isolated yet exposed, resembling a body that gathers oxygen around itself yet cannot breathe. It exists within a dark subterranean space, suspended between a scientific display and an existential condition.
